Tommie June (King) Brooks

Tommie June (King) Brooks, 90, of Stephenville passed peacefully from this Earth, surrounded by family, on March 5, 2024.  Graveside services will be held at Johnson’s Cemetery in Stephenville, TX on Saturday, March 9, at 3:00 pm.

Tommie was born on June 8, 1933 in Hasse, TX. She married Billy Brooks on August 2, 1947. Together they raised 5 children, living all over the United States as a military family. They eventually settled in Stephenville, after Bill’s retirement, so they could be close to family.

Tommie worked as an LVN nurse for 27 years in Stephenville at the hospital. She always said she had the best job, being able to take care of the babies being born. You knew you were lucky if Tommie was the one taking care of your baby! Her loving nature and sweet spirit led everyone to love her.

Tommie is survived by her children Belinda Mackey, Keith Brooks and wife Tamantha, Tommy Brooks, and Don Brooks; grandchildren Cody and wife Brittany Bamber, Elizabeth and husband Jason Evans, Kyle and wife Britani Rainwater, Angel and husband Sean Guthrie, Conner and wife Alexandria Brooks, Taylor and wife Lexi Brooks, Jarrett Brooks, Zachary Brooks, Toby Brooks, Robert Brooks; great grandchildren Julian Evans and fiancée Brianna, Aliera and husband Hayden Kemp, El Evans, Jaxon Evans; Iceson Bamber, Tyson Bamber, Roxi Bamber, Kynlea Rainwater, Dacian Malaer, Zerrah Lucas, and Lilith Brooks; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Billy Brooks, son Richard Brooks, son in law Patrick Mackey, daughter in law Jan Brooks and grandparents, Thomas and Rosella Proffitt.
