Zech Clayton Dameron

Zech Clayton Dameron, 86, of Stephenville, died Sunday, April 13, 2014 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, April 16th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Entombment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Clayton was born on August 29, 1927 in San Angelo, TX, to the late Jacob Thomas and Helen Taylor Dameron. He attended Texas Agriculture College in Arlington, and soon left to join the U. S. Navy during WWII, where he served on the USS Astoria off the West Coast. Clayton was preceded in death by the birth mother of his children, Lavelle Tuggle Dameron in 1955. He married Maxine Lowe on October 7, 1957 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Maxine also preceded him in death on June 8, 2010. Clayton was a local Stephenville businessman until his health forced him into retirement. Clayton is survived by his sons, Craig and wife Sue Dameron of Wellston, OK, and Cary and wife Cathy Dameron of Whitney, TX; grandson, Darin Matthew and wife Amanda Dameron and two great grandchildren Wynie Dameron and Clayton Matthew Dameron all of Wellston, OK; sister-in-law, Laura Dameron of Bluff Dale; several nieces and nephews. Clayton was also preceded in death by a brother, Taylor Dameron; and several aunts and uncles.
