Wynona C. (Herod) Magee

August 1, 1928 — March 26, 2023

Wynona Magee, 94, of Erath County, passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2023. Funeral services for Wynona will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 29th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Gary Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Duffau Cemetery. Visitation with the Magee family will begin at 1:00 PM, one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

Wynona was born on August 1, 1928, in Erath County to the late Lester and Stella Cavitt Herod. She married Roy Lee Magee on May 24, 1947 in Dublin. Roy Lee preceded her in death on March 29, 2016. Wynona was a child of the depression years. She learned quickly how to appreciate the simple things in life, and how to work with her family to get by in life. She loved her family, and traveled away from home to visit with members of her extended family. She loved to sew, knit, crochet and gardening. She was an excellent cook, and family and friends looked forward to meals with her. She was a member of the Duffau Baptist Church and spent several years of her life as a schoolteacher’s aide in the Burleson ISD. Roy Lee and Wynona lived 35 years in the City of Burleson in Johnson County, and has lived the past 7 years in Fort Worth close to her son and daughter.

Wynona is survived by her son, Alan and wife Leslie Magee; daughter, Marian Daugherty; grandchildren, Chris and wife Judy Magee, Carl and wife Chelle Commander, Brooke Commander, Lauren Magee, Robert Daugherty, and Patrick and wife Betty Daugherty; five great grandchildren, Hagan, Kaden, Katie, Meagan, and Sean, and her sister Sherry Lane of Hico.
