Winnie Jones Stem

Winnie Jones Stem, 72, of Stephenville, died Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in Stephenville Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, May 28, 2011 at the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 1424 Stuart Rd in Denton, TX with John Lindsey and Werth Mayes officiating. Under direction of Stephenville Funeral Home. Winnie was born on September 27, 1938 in Erath County to the late A. D. ‘Jack' and Susie Diffee Jones. She married Darwin Stem on September 5, 1954 in Stephenville. Winnie and Darwin lived in Denton from 1958 until 1998, they then moved to Stephenville. Before retirement Winnie served as Director of Mail Services at Tarleton State University She is survived by her husband, Darwin; daughter, Sheila and husband Tommy Pierson of Ledbetter, TX; son, Daniel and wife Mary Kay Stem of Littleton, Colorado; sisters, Bonnie Watkins of Fort Worth, Vondell Meador of Louisiana, Martha Jones of Stephenville, and Mary Jones of Stephenville; 13 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren She was also preceded in death by a son, Thurman. In lieu of flowers, the Stem family request expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to either, the Cowboy Church of Stephenville, Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Denton, or to the charity of choice.
