Wilma Jean Carter Walker, 83, of Stephenville passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025.
Funeral services for Wilma will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Russ Bare officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation with the Walker family will be 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM on Saturday morning at Stephenville Funeral Home.
Wilma was born on September 28, 1941, in Stephenville, Texas to the late Clyde Carter and Georgie ‘Tennie’ Lingle Carter. She attended school in Stephenville. She met the love of her life, J D Walker, and they were married on September 18, 1964 in Stephenville. He preceded her in death on December 8, 2024.
Wilma was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She loved her church, and spent many years as a Sunday School teacher, singing in the choir and working in the kitchen. Wilma loved to travel and was always ready for a vacation, especially if it was to Branson. She loved country music and spent many nights on the dance floor at the Senior Citizen Center with her “Senior Friends”. Wilma loved her family. Her main focus was making sure JD and her girls, Shanna and Taylor, were taken care of. Wilma always loved visiting with people and enjoyed many years working at the House of Gifts and Armstrong McCall Beauty Supply in Stephenville.
Wilma is survived by her daughter, Shanna and husband Matt Harpole; granddaughter, Taylor Harpole; sister, Wanda and husband Jerry Walker; sister-in-law, Nora Carter, sister-in-law Linda and husband Doyle Hooks and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by a brother, J. A. Carter, half-sister, Clydene Kroger, and half-brother, Bill Carter.
