Obituary
William Rex Haggard, 86, of Stephenville, was reunited with his loving wife and went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, November 19th, 2022.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30pm on Monday, November 28th, 2022 at the chapel at Stephenville Funeral Home. Graveside services will be directly following the memorial at Erath Gardens of Memory.
Rex was born on March 5th, 1936 in Jacksboro, Texas to Charlie Haggard and Mae Roberts. Rex was the youngest of 8 siblings and spent his early years devoted to his family before enlisting in the United States Navy at the age of 17 to serve in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he continued living a life of service by joining the Fort Worth Fire Department in 1958. He bravely fought fires for 30 years and retired in 1988 as a Lieutenant from Fire Station No. 21.
Rex married the love of his life, Laverne Carpenter, in July of 1965. They were inseparable until her death and Rex cherished her all the days of his life.
Rex was a devoted father, papa, and great grandfather.
Rex was preceded in death by wife, Laverne, his son, Gregg Haggard, and his daughter in law, Tammy Haggard.
Rex is survived by his children, Lori Lesley and husband Steve; Tim Haggard; Tom Haggard and wife Cindy; Totsy Sturm and husband Richard; grandchildren Shawn Stone and wife Ashley; Shyanne Barnes and husband Kyon; great grandsons Jaxon, Pason William, and Tillson Stone; great granddaughters Zoey Stone and Amelia Stevie Barnes; and countless other family members and friends.
