William "Bill" Whitt

William A. ‘Bill' Whitt, 88, of Stephenville, passed away on Monday, March 10, 2014 in Gorman. Graveside services for Bill will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 13th at Smith Springs Cemetery here in Erath County. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Bill was born on May 3, 1925 in Prestonburg, Kentucky to the late John and Ada Coleman Whitt. He married Dorothy Ann Griffin on July 30, 1945 in Comanche. Dorothy preceded him in death, January 15, 1996. Bill served his country during WWII in the U. S. Army. He was a member of the Riverside Baptist Church, and spent most of his life in Erath County. Bill spent over 26 years as manager with Ingram Ready Mix Concrete. He was a loving father, and grandfather. Bill is survived by his son, Danny Joe and wife Becky Whitt of Stephenville; grandchildren, Curtis Wayne, Misty, Stacy Dean, Buddy Joe, Jeanna Marie, Adam, Christy, John Daniel, Jeff, Madison, Coby, DeAnna, Denae, and Donna; several great grandchildren, and sister, Mary Johnson. Bill was also preceded in death by a son, William Curtis Whitt; a daughter, Beveraly Elaine Starnes; three sisters, and four brothers.
