William (Bill) Goodman

William James (Bill) Goodman, 86, went to be with his Lord Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Vitas Hospice in Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday, February 27, 2009 at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Moore and Rev. Bob Baldridge officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Erath County. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Thursday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Bill was born July 3, 1922 in Lone Oak community near Stephenville to William Joseph and Hattie Goodman. He married Leona Maye Vandiver on February 15, 1944. They just recently celebrated sixty-five wonderful years of marriage. They have both been long-time members of Harvey Baptist Church in Stephenville where Bill was a Deacon. Bill served honorably in the Army Air Corps in 1942-1945. Survivors include his wife, Leona of Stephenville; one daughter, Donna Hoffman and husband Troy of Newcastle, OK; two sons, Howard Goodman and wife Anita of Acton, TX, and Grant Goodman and wife Nan of Stephenville. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Meredith Banks, Rebekah Jonas, Shawn Goodman, Chance Goodman, Claire Goodman, Caden Goodman, and Chloe Goodman; and five great-grandchildren; surviving siblings include brothers, Roy Goodman of Durango, CO, Robert Goodman of Stephenville, Ed Goodman of Stephenville; and sisters, Ann Anderson of Waterloo, IA, and Linda Sue Bantau of Argyle, TX. Memorials may be made to the Harvey Baptist Church Music Ministry.
