Wayne Russell Collier

Wayne Russell Collier, passed away Thursday, October 02, 2008, at his residence after a hard fought battle with Heart Disease. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel . Interment will follow at the West End Cemetery in Stephenville. Wayne was born September 17, 1934 in Duffau, Texas to the late Russell and Grace Steel Collier. He was a Boy Scout as a youth, attended school at Morgan Mill, Bluff Dale, and Stephenville High School where he met his future wife, Jimmie Rene Melton. They were married on December 21, 1951 in Bluff Dale. Wayne enjoyed gardening and taking care of his yard and loved animals. He was a member of the Rock of Helps Church in Weatherford. Wayne is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jimmie Collier; son, Jack Collier and wife Suzanne; daughter, Teresa Proffitt; granddaughters, Missy Collier, Heather Grant, and Amie Johnson; great-granddaughters; Meghan, Kailey, and Jayci; pet dog, Taz; sister-in-law, Mattie Chambers and husband Max; brother-in-law, Melvin Rogers of Lipan. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister Betty Collier Rogers and great-grandson, Talon. Wayne would prefer memorials be made to the World Vision, an organization he was involved in for many years.
