W.A. 'Dub' Morris

January 18, 1941 — July 13, 2024

W.A. ‘Dub’ Morris met his Savior in the blink of an eye on Saturday, July 13, 2024
exclaiming “Well Lord, that was quick! Thank you.”
Dub was born on January 18, 1941 in Pioneer, Texas at home. He grew up in
Eastland County and after graduating from high school in Cross Plains, he was
drafted into the service for the United States Army. Dub grew up hunting and
shooting rifles and he showed his marksmanship in the Army by receiving an
Expert rating on Rifle and a Marksman rating on Pistol. After finishing his service
to his country, Dub married the love of his life, Brenda Ann Purselley, on January
19, 1968 in Granbury, Texas. Together they enjoyed 56 years of life and love.
Dub worked for D&M Upholstery for 25 years before changing careers to work as
a Service Specialist for Lone Star Gas which eventually became Atmos Energy.
Dub retired from Atmos Energy after a tenured career of 30 years.
W.A. lived most of his life in Stephenville, Texas where he, his wife and their 2
sons attended Hillcrest Church of Christ. Dub served as an Deacon and Sunday
School teacher while also visiting local nursing homes where he would lead
singing sessions and Bible studies.
Dub enjoyed being outside as much as possible. He loved to fish, hunt, camp and
travel. If you were looking for Dub, you would either find him in his shop
tinkering with something or outside with his goats and donkeys. Dub loved his
family and was known as a “Dad to all”. He will be missed but we rejoice in the
knowledge that he is fully healed and with his Lord.

W.A. is preceded in death by his parents, Maloy Burton and Emma Floyd Morris;brothers, Sam Lawson and Buster Lawson; sisters, Louvinda Morris Chapman and Sylvia Morris Brown; and one great great granddaughter, Ilianna Miller.

Dub is survived by his wife of 56 years, Brenda; sons, Burt (Ashlee) and Jeffrey (Jodey); grandchildren, Christine Howl, Steven Howl, Stevie Shiosee, David Lewis, Jessica Nail, Maggie Nail, Brittany Portlock, Tesa Morris, Joshua Morris, J.D.
