Vicki Jo Peek

Vicki Jo Peek, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, joined the Lord in heaven on March 16, 2025 at the age of 79. Her kindness, warmth, and unwavering love touched the lives of all who were fortunate to know her.

Born on December 24, 1945, in Winters, Texas, Vicki had a spirit that was gentle, yet very strong. A sharp-witted woman with more skills than hairs on her head, she was an encyclopedia for those seeking answers. She lived a simple life close to her family and was always finding joy in the little moments that made life beautiful. Whether sharing stories over a cold cup of Dr Pepper, spoiling her dogs, or offering a piece of priceless wisdom, she made every moment meaningful.

Vicki’s greatest joy was her family. Known as “Mimi” to her grandkids, nieces, and nephews, she was a devoted mother/grandmother who filled the room with laughter and love. Her humor was as sharp as her mind, and her trademark laugh could make any funny joke just a little funnier. If she wasn’t speaking with you, she was likely thinking of you— asking about your well-being or making sure you arrived safely when traveling. Her love was constant, and her presence was a source of comfort to those around her.

She is preceded in death by her son Cody Childress, survived by her daughter and best friend, Brandy Prieto, son-in-law Daniel Prieto, sister-in-law Rhonda Gulley and family, niece Amber Robles, grandchildren Samuell, Joshua, Gabriel, and Andrea, and great-grandchildren Natalie, Omari, Ariah, and Jesse who will carry her love in their hearts forever. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the stories we share, the many lessons she taught us, and the love that will never fade.

Per Vicki’s wishes, a private urn burial will take place with her family in Sonora, Texas where she will be laid to rest by her parents and little brother.
