We gather here today, to celebrate the life of VEDA WALLS. Veda lived a very full and happy life. She loved Jesus and was a devoted Baptist. She brought sunshine and so many happy moments to each of us.
Veda was born September 15, 1928, in Dickens County, Texas to James A. and Eva [Green] Williams. She was the third and only daughter of 4 children.
Veda and her family, along with her grandparents, moved to Lingleville, Texas in 1934 after leaving Spur, Texas. Her father was a peanut farmer and mother was a housewife, who cared for and fed the whole family of 8.
Veda met the love of her life, O.T. WALLS, while in grade school. However, they were not allowed to date until Veda was in High School. O.T. served in The United States Army as a paratrooper during WWII. While home from deployment in The Philippines, they married in Stephenville, TX, on September 16, 1946, the day after her 18th birthday!
Veda and O.T. followed the oil patch all over the Texas Coast before landing in Odessa, Texas in 1972. Where they lived until his death in 2006. While living in Odessa, Veda was very active in the Baptist Church. She taught ChiRho Sunday School classes, and she became the Education Leader. This was a position she proudly accepted for ten years.
In 2014 Veda decided it was time to move closer to family, and she moved to Granbury, Texas. She dearly loved taking care of all of her family! She made so many wonderful friends at her new church. Several of whom ended up living in the same apartment complex, making even her last days treasured moments. Thank you all! ♡
Veda was proceeded in death by her parents, J.A. & Eva Williams, her dear husband, O.T. Walls, her brother and sister-in-law, Dean & Elsie Williams, her brother and sister-in-law Wayford & Wyone Williams, her sister-in-law Sue Williams, and her sister-in-law Betty Williams. We are quite sure there was a huge family welcome earlier this week in heaven!
Veda is survived by her youngest brother, E.J. Williams, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as many great nieces and nephews. Although Veda and O.T. had no children of their own, they were second parents to many and were dearly loved! ♡
