Thurman "Stormy" Walker

Thurman ‘Stormy' Walker, 83, of Stephenville, died Saturday, September 6, 2014 in Fort Worth. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, September 13, 2014 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Hannah officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Dale Cemetery. Visitation with family will be 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM Saturday at Stephenville Funeral home. Stormy was born on April 27, 1931 in Stephenville to the late Charles A. and Emma Stone Walker. He married Lila Mote, on April 28, 1956 in Dublin; she preceded him in death on September 29, 2011. Stormy was a design engineer. He spent over 45 years refereeing for the football association, and he and Lila spent 35 years refereeing for the volleyball association. He was a lifelong resident of Stephenville and a member of Graham Street Church of Christ. Stormy and Lila had lots of joyous times over the last ten years of their life together. Stormy is survived by his children, Byron ‘Ace' Walker, Teresa Janell Palmer, and David Scott Walker; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Walker and wife Bettye, Don Walker and wife Margaret; sisters, Fenella Jarrett and husband Raymond, Rita Bridges; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Stormy was preceded in death by his sister, Marjorie Nunn; and brother, Charles Walker. The family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Stephenville Senior Citizen's Center, 164 East College St., Stephenville, Texas 76401.
