Thelma Faye (Chancellor) Ward

Thelma Faye Chancellor Ward, 92, of Hudson Oaks, died Thursday, August 12, 2021, in Weatherford.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM Sunday, August 15th at Pendergrass Cemetery near Comanche.

Thelma was born on April 7, 1929, in Comanche to the late Thomas Wade and Ollie Davis Chancellor.  She married Lacy Atwell Ward on October 5, 1947, in Comanche County.  L. A. preceded her in death on February 5, 1989.  Thelma lived most of her life in Monahans, Texas, and the past 7 years in Hudson Oaks.  She worked and retired with the Texas Youth Commission as a house parent.  She attended church for many years at Rocky Point Baptist Church in Stephenville, and the past 7 years with the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Weatherford.

Thelma was the most extraordinary Christian wife and mother.  She mothered with 100’s of children that had no mothers to raise them.

Survivors include her children, Laurine Roach of Bethel Springs, Tennessee, Lacy and wife Judy Ward of Kilgore, TX, Robert and wife Lisa Ward of Bartonville, TX, Gary and wife Jill Ward of Hudson Oaks, TX, and Martha and husband Randy Yount of Hewitt, TX; several grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Besides her parents and husband, L. A.; Thelma was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tiffany Ward; great grandson, Jayd Bivens; and a son-in-law, Gary Roach.

The Ward family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Spring Creek Baptist Church in Weatherford, funds earmarked for benevolence.
