Sylvia Lee Jones

Sylvia Lee Jones, 76, of Stephenville, passed away Tuesday November 24, 2009 in Fort Worth. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 am Friday at the Stephenville First Baptist Church with Rev. Emil Becker officiating. Interment will follow at the Erath Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Erath County. The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm Wednesday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Sylvia was born April 29, 1933 in Comanche County to the late Rob and Jewell Massingill Lowery. She married Arl Douglas Jones on July 15, 1950 in Stephenville and together they owned Stephenville Wholesale for 28 years. Sylvia and Arl are also members of the First Baptist Church in Stephenville and taught four year olds in Sunday school and sixteen year olds in Training Union for many years. She has resided in Stephenville since 1955 and was a wonderful wife, and mother, as well as a great cook and seamstress. Sylvia is survived by her husband, Arl Jones; daughter, Carla Ann Jones of Weatherford; son, Davey Lee Jones of Johnson City; Granddaughter, Serena Jones. Memorials may be made to the Stephenville First Baptist Church Mission fund or Building repair Fund.
