Sarah Frances Van Auken, 90, of Ranger, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2014 in Ranger. Frances' request was to be cremated. A family graveside service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park in Odessa at a later date. Services are under direction of Stephenville Funeral Home. Frances was born on May 11, 1923 in Woodruff, South Carolina to the late Herman and Isadore Bobo Foster. She graduated from Odessa High School, attended Tarleton State, and received her degree from North Texas University. She was director of a medical laboratory in Odessa over 25 years. Frances grew up in Odessa, lived over twenty years in Ruidoso, NM, and several years in Ranger. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Mark Van Auken, and by a stepson, Carig Van Auken. Survivors include her son, Michael and wife Mary Hennech of Ranger; daughter, Pat and husband Tom Winkle of Oak Harbor, Washington, brother, Herman and wife Peggy Foster of Southlake; grandsons, Michael II and wife Lana Hennech of Mineral Wells, and Jarod Winkle of Seattle Washington; granddaughters, Cheryl and husband Ryan Hatton of Stephenville, and Lisa and husband Aron Moe of Vashon, Washington; stepsons, Phil Van Auken and Charlie Van Auken; great grandchildren, Brendan Hennech, Mason Hatton, Molly Hatton, and Kasen Moe.
