Ruthie Pope

Hamilton Ruthie Pope, 81, of Stephenville, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at a Hamilton Nursing Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, April 20, 2008 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sharon Roberson officiating. Interment will follow at the New Gordon Cemetery in Gordon, TX. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Saturday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Ruthie was born May 18, 1926, in Cuthbert, TX to the late Wesley and Mary Brown Thompson. She married Delbert Calvin Pope on October 18, 1945 in Mineral Wells. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1991. Ruthie had resided in Stephenville since 1978. She also resided several years in Dublin. Ruthie worked as a secretary in medical records at the Stephenville hospital. She was a Baptist. Survivors include two sons, David Pope of Wimberley and Richard Pope of Gustine; two daughters, Barbara Elkins of Hico and Beth Manning of Evant; two brothers, Joe Thompson of Taylor and Charlie Thompson of Mineral Wells; three sisters, Dorthy Thompson of Gordon; Mary Hebert of Weatherford and Sue Collins of Gordon; ten grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
