Ruby Nell Blackwell

Ruby Nell Blackwell, 81, of Stephenville, died Thursday, April 17, 2013, in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Hamilton. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Ruby was born on April 13, 1932, in Gatesville to the late David Murry and Martha Jane Taylor Mosley. She owned and operated a café in Odessa for several years, and also served on the Odessa Police Department. She was a member of the World Outreach Ministries, and has lived in Stephenville since 1969. She was preceded in death by her husband Sammie Blackwell on July 27, 1984. Survivors include her sons, Sammie Blackwell and wife Earlene Towers of Stephenville, John and wife Melissa Blackwell of Stephenville, and Bobby and wife Debra Dixon of Brownwood; grandchildren, Sandy Sportman, Caitlyn Blackwell, Samantha Blackwell, Jessica Shubert, Christopher Dixon, Ricky Dixon, Blaine Petrich, David Houghton, and Billy Towers; and 8 great grandchildren. Ruby was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
