Rosemary Nichols Carter passed from her earthly life on Tuesday, October 12, 2010. On Friday, October 15, 2010 at 2:00 PM, a Memorial Service celebrating her life will be held at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Bert Mercer officiating. No visitation is planned, but Rosemary will lie in state one hour prior to her memorial service. Rosemary was born on June 18, 1913 in Erath County to Coleman D. Nichols and Myrtie Alice Young. All of her education took place in Stephenville schools. On July 25, 1931, she married the love of her life, Herman Maxwell Carter, in Stephenville. After the marriage, the couple moved to Cherokee, Texas, then to Sylvester, Sterling City, and then San Angelo, Texas. Finally, in 1988 Herman and Rosemary moved back to Stephenville to enjoy retirement. Rosemary was a member of the Church of Christ. She was a talented artist, china painter, and photographer. Another of her hobbies was fishing in the creeks and rivers around San Angelo. Preceded Rosemary in death was her husband, Herman; son, Herman Jr. ‘Bubba'; grandson, Herman III ‘Max'; and a son-in-law, Bill Sanders. Survivors include her daughter, Tomasine ‘Tomi' Sanders of China Spring; granddaughters, Heather Sanders Payne, Holly Sanders Pickett and husband, Todd, Amy Carter Kemp and husband, Cody; great grandchildren, Sarah Payne, Courtney Payne, Mackenzie and Brady Pickett, Max and Zoe Kemp, and Bridget Carter. The loving care through the years provided by Pam Williams, Pi Chambers, Vera Nasser, Alice Tovar, and Janice, is greatly appreciated by the family along with the recent excellent care provided by CCS Hospice.
