Richard Allen Brooks

Richard Allen Brooks, 74, of Wichita Falls and formerly of Stephenville, passed away on December 3, 2023.

Graveside services for Richard will be at 2:30 PM Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Johnson Cemetery..

Richard was born in Vernon, TX on December 26, 1948 to Billy Joe and Tommie June (King) Brooks. He married Brenda Marshall on November 9, 1997.

Richard grew up all over the United States as the son of an Air Force sergeant. He graduated high school in Fairbanks, Alaska at Eielson Air Force Base and joined the Navy after high school. He attended Tarleton State University after he left the service, where he majored in English.

Richard served as a Medic in the Navy during the Vietnam War. After leaving the service and attending Tarleton, he worked at the Abilene Reporter News and also worked as a drug and alcohol counselor at Summer Sky in Stephenville.

Richard was preceded in death by his father, Billy Brooks, and brother-in-law, Patrick Mackey.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda; stepson, Tony Lee; mother, Tommie Brooks; sister, Belinda Mackey; brother, Keith Brooks and wife, Tamantha; brother, Tommy Brooks; brother, Don Brooks; numerous nieces and nephews; and great nieces and nephews; and cousins.
