Randy Carroll Whitman
Born on March 20, 1950, to Sidney and Fern Whitman in Stephenville, Texas, Randy Carroll Whitman passed away June 15, 2021, peacefully at his home and surrounded by loved ones. He was a graduate of Stephenville High School and attended Tarleton State University. While in school, he was very active in the FFA, was on the award-winning State Dairy Judging team, and earned the highest honor of Lone Star Degree. Randy lived on his family land all of his life, south of Stephenville on the Bosque River. He was an avid farmer, while also raising hogs and cattle. Staying true to his love of livestock farming, he later followed his passion of having a professional fitting service and traveling to livestock shows throughout the United States. He proudly won numerous Grand Champion honors, including at every major stock show in Texas. Randy was a true outdoorsman and spent all of his free time gardening, camping, hunting, and fishing. He loved spending time at his cabin on the Bosque River.
Randy retired from his lifelong occupation in construction working with Brown & Root, Will Parker, and Alpha Building Corporation, where he was honored with a distinguished award presented by the Tarleton State University president for his many years of dedicated service.
He married Carolyn Moore on August 31, 1973. She preceded him in death in November of 2000, along with an infant son, Steven Harris Whitman, in 1978. He later married Sherry Huffman on July 5, 2002. She preceded him in death in January of this year.
Randy is survived by his son Donnie and Jody Whitman of Stephenville, daughter Penny and Beau Wilson of Lampasas, daughter Carrie Basham of Arizona, stepson Corey and Teresa Huffman of Burleson, stepdaughter Mindi Turner of Arlington, grandchildren Keely Wilson, Bryli Wilson, Stanton Whitman, Carter Huffman, and Trevor Turner, brother Gary and Cindy Whitman of Keller, sister Laura Ann and Marlin Priddy of Stephenville, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at Stephenville Funeral Home on Friday, June 18, 2021 at 10 a.m. Visitation will be Thursday, June 17, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00. Graveside will be at Indian Creek Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
