On June 30, 1944, Randy Gilley was born at a US Naval Base in Hutchinson, Kansas to Paralee Moser Gilley and Granville Labon Gilley. He grew up in Stephenville, TX, moving to Fort Worth to work for the Fort Worth Fire Department. After 30 years of serving, Randy retired and traveled across the country with his beloved wife, Marihelen, eventually settling down in Hico, Texas.
When he wasn't putting out fires, Randy enjoyed building campfires of his own, entertaining family and friends on any occasion. He was a simple man who loved fishing, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family and friends. Randy was a friend to all who had the pleasure of meeting him, including the hummingbirds that visited him daily.
Randy Gilley passed away peacefully at home on September 9, 2023, in Hico, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Granville and Paralee Gilley Jones, his brother, Charles Wayne Gilley, who is survived by his wife, Pat Gilley, and their daughter Diane of Stephenville. He is survived by the love of his life, Marihelen, sons Bret and Bart, Greg Sones, and Cindy & Michael Dalrymple, three granddaughters (Amanda and husband Mike, Courtney, and Whitney), five grandsons (Watt, Dave, Tate, Reid, and Lane), and two great grandchildren (Hazel and Gemma).
