R L "Sparky" Sparks

R L ‘Sparky' Sparks, 82, of Stephenville passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 in Stephenville. Services will be held Saturday August 10, 2013 at 2:00 PM at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Lingleville East End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. Sparky was born to the late R. Lee and Lucille Bays Sparks on September 28, 1930 in Erath County. He married Merlene Christian on March 23, 1951 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Sparky proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Harvey Baptist Church. He retired from Haliburton as a Technical Advisor after 31 years of service. Sparky loved Country and Bluegrass music. He was a lifelong resident of Erath County and was a loving father to his son and daughter, and lived his life with high integrity. Sparky is survived by his wife Merlene; son, Gary Sparks and wife Tonya of Graham, TX; daughter, Karen Morgan of Butler, OK; 6 grandchildren, Jay Proctor of Oklahoma City, OK, Meggan Rother and husband Jeremy of Weatherford, OK, Brandon Sparks of Dallas, TX, Rusty Sparks of Weatherford, TX, Trevor Sparks of Graham, TX, and Chelsey Sparks of Graham, TX; 6 great grandchildren; sister-in-law and brother in-law, Earlene and Thomas Moore; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Donald Sparks Spark's family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the building fund at Harvey Baptist Church. The family would like to thank the Staff of Solaris Hospice and Mulberry Manor for their loving care and kindness.
