Porter Grimes, 87, of Stephenville, died Sunday, September 19, 2021.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, October 2nd at Cowboy Church of Erath County with Werth Mayes officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, October 1st at Stephenville Funeral Home.
Porter was born on May 19, 1934 in Waxahachie, Texas to the later Jim Lee and Ottie Melton Grimes. He married Pauline Kennedy on June 1, 1957, in Mineral Wells. Pauline preceded him in death on March 11, 2021. Porter served in the U. S. Army, and was a member of the Cowboy Church of Erath County. He loved sports, supporting the Yellow Jackets, Honeybees, and the Tarleton Texans. Porter never met a stranger, and was quick to give out a big smile, and a great big bear hug. Porter was Pa Pa to everyone. He began his career working for SW Gas company, and retired after several years with Lone Star Gas Company.
Porter is survived by his son, Mike and wife Sondra Grimes of Azle; daughter, Connie Pack of Stephenville; grandchildren Monica and husband Justin Monk, Eric Grimes, Holly Grimes, Trea Satterfield, Mason Brown, Junior Pack, and Mary Pack; great grandchildren, Jansen, Caden, Kinsley, Addley, and Finley; and brother, J. D. and wife Carolyn Grimes of Fort Worth.
Besides his parents, and his wife, Pauline; Porter was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harold Miller Grimes, James Grimes, and Buddy Grimes; and a son-in-law, Terrell Pack.
