To help us celebrate her beautiful life, please wear purple or bright colors.

Peggy was born on July 17, 1955, to the late Fred Ewers, Sr., and Ruth Townsend Ewers.  She married Mike Stephens in August of 1987, in Stephenville. Peggy attended public school in Stephenville, graduating in her high school class of 1973.  She then attended Tarleton State University, graduating in 1978 with her degree in Education.  After Peggy completed her student teaching, she decided education was not her passion. Peggy then worked for the Dairy Herd Inspection Services.  She took great pride in this career, testing milk.  She was the only female applicant chosen for employment out of numerous male applicants.  Her employer told Peggy the reason she was chosen was because she was highly educated, driven and dependable.  After her career in milk testing, Peggy spent the rest of her career as a letter carrier with the U. S. Postal Service in Stephenville.  She dearly loved her career as a letter carrier.  She had great joy and gratification serving her community as their mail carrier.  She always surpassed her guidelines and requirements set before her.  Most days, Peggy would walk over 11 miles, carrying her 35-pound bag of mail to deliver.  She not only took pride in her work, but she also took great pride in her appearance for work.  Peggy meticulously cleaned and polished her shoes every night, making sure they were as good as new for the next day.  Peggy retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 23 years of devoted service.  After retirement, Peggy enjoyed antiquing with her beloved husband.  Peggy would find special pieces to add to her personal collection, while choosing others to put in the antique shop.  Most of all, Peggy was a devoted wife and mother, who dearly loved her family.  Her family said she was an amazing woman, a ‘spicy’ individual, and a wonderful person who also liked the occasional joke and prank.  Her kids and grandkids were the center of her world.  Her presence, love and laughter will be deeply missed.

Peggy is survived by her loving husband, Mike; children, Amber and her husband Jason Miller, and their children Addyson, Ava, and Austyn; Bart and his wife Amy Garner, and their children, Skylar and Cash, and Mary and her husband Dane White, and their children Caden, Colten, and Cooper.  Peggy’s stepchildren, Trint Stephens and his children, Tristan and Ashlyn, Alexa Sanchez and her children, Gabriella, Makayla, and Adriana; and Amanda Stephens; brother, Fred Ewers, Jr. sister, Debbie Everett; nephew, Fred Ewers, III and several other nieces and nephews.
