Pauline Kay Smith

December 14, 1914 — August 1, 2009

Pauline Kay Smith, 94, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2009, at Regent Care Center in Woodway, Texas. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM Friday, August 7, 2009, at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Grisham officiating. Burial will follow at Proctor Cemetery in Proctor, Texas. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM Thursday, August 6, 2009, at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Pauline was one of six children born to Minnie Lou (Stevenson) and Alonzo D. Kay in Stowell, Texas on December 14, 1914. She grew up in Proctor but graduated from high school in Snyder. Pauline met her beloved husband of 50 years, Tullus V. Smith, in Fort Worth where they married April 3, 1937. They ultimately settled in Stephenville and she resided there for 67 years. Tullus and Pauline were members of the First United Methodist Church where she often taught the Susanna Wesley Sunday school class. They owned Stephenville Laundry and Dry Cleaners and, later, Vogue Cleaners. She was a homemaker and caregiver to their two children, but also worked many years at both cleaning establishments. She played bridge in local bridge clubs and was a member of the Stephenville Study Club. Survivors include her daughters, Kay (Smith) Lamb Shannon of Waco, Paula (Smith) McDonald and husband Jim of Barrington, Illinois. Pauline is also survived by three grandchildren, Lisa Kay Fuller and husband Jeff; Todd Lamb and wife Stacey; Ashley Kay Taylor and husband Jeff; as well as five great-grandchildren, Carson, Kayley, Lexy, Sophie, and Braeden. Surviving her also is a step-grandson, John Shannon and wife Pauli, and their children, Corey and Moses; her brother-in-law, W.C. Smith and wife Martha, and her niece Carolyn Kay Rogers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Tullus (1987), four brothers and one sister. Pallbearers will be Jim McDonald, Todd Lamb, Jeff Fuller, Jeff Taylor, John Shannon, W. C. Smith, and James Winans. The family suggests that memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at JDRF of Georgia, Piedmont Center, Bldg. 6, 3525 Piedmont Road NE, Suite 300, Atlanta, Georgia, 30305. Pauline was a beloved Mother and Grandmother. In our great sadness, we are comforted in the knowledge that she has left this earth for her heavenly home with Jesus.
