Paul Gentle, 64 of Stephenville, died Friday morning, October 1, 2010 at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, at West End Cemetery with Brother Jim Townsend officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8 PM Monday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Pallbearers for Paul are Austin Powell, Lloyd Bell, Jimmy Don Bell, Johnny Gentle, Timmy Gentle, Steven Gentle, Gary Whitworth, Christopher Whitworth, and Jerromy Ansley. Paul was born July 24, 1946 in Dallas to the late J. R. and Naomi Russell Gentle. He grew up in the Dallas area and later lived in Abilene while working as a mechanic for the U. S. Air Force at Dyess AFB. He served his country in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. When he left the military he began working in the construction field with his father and later his older brother, Ronald. He lived and worked throughout the Abilene and Dallas areas for many years. Paul was a long time resident of Stephenville, and part time operator of J & D miniature golf course. Paul is survived by his wife, Karen Hooks of Stephenville; four daughters, Kelly Davis of Abilene, Kathlinda Lavy of Henrietta, Darlene Gentle and Tabitha Gentle both of Paris, TX; step-daughters, Stephanie Thompson of Stephenville and Shirley Tucker of Speegleville; two brothers, Ronald and David; five sisters, Patricia, Sandy, Maxine, Connie, and Barbara; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Naomi, J. R., and Loretta Gentle; son, Alan Gentle, two brothers, Glen Gentle and J. R. (Bubba) Gentle, Jr.; and by a sister, Carmen (Sissy)Gentle. Family wishes that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Foster's Home for Children.
