Patsy Ruth Tidwell

Patsy Ruth Tidwell August 26, 1936 - January 28, 2016 Patsy Ruth Tidwell, 79, passed away on January 28, 2016 in Stephenville, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Sunday, January 31st at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Jimmy Holleman officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday at the funeral home. Patsy Ruth Herring was born on August 26, 1936 to Bennie and Susie Herring in Palo Pinto County. She grew up in Erath County and lived there almost all her life. She was a graduate of Stephenville High School (Class of 1954). She also graduated from Tarleton State College in 1956. On August 30, 1958 she married Ben Tidwell at her parent's home near Morgan Mill. She retired from the registrar's office at Tarleton State University after 27 years of service. Patsy loved flowers, antique furniture and other collectibles, quilting, and traveling; but most of all she loved her Lord, her family, and her friends. She was a Baptist and a member of Double N Cowboy Church. Patsy is survived by her husband, Ben Tidwell; daughter, Donna Willis of Stephenville, and her friend Rick Bird; son, Lynn Tidwell and wife Carolyn of Dublin; grandsons, Kody Willis of Austin and Jake Tidwell of Bluff Dale; granddaughter, Lauren Schmidt and husband Kade of Reydon, Oklahoma; great-granddaughter, Emmy Grace Schmidt. She is also survived by two sisters, Thelma Harvey and husband Don of Corsicana and Velma Walker and husband Danny of Colleyville; one niece, five nephews, a large extended family, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, L.B. Herring and his wife Wanda. The family sends their deep appreciation to the doctors and staff at Harris Methodist Hospital and Mission Hospice for their care and support, and a very special thanks to Debbie Blakeley and family for the loving care they provided in the last year of Patsy's life. The Tidwell family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to their favorite charity.
