Orph Osborne

Orph Osborne, 99, of Stephenville, died Monday, April 13, 2009 in Stephenville. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at Sturdivant Cemetery in Palo Pinto County, with Don Parker officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Orph was born, September 3, 1909, in Mineral Wells, the last of eight children, to the late Charlie Floyd and Theresa Birchfield Osborne. He married Maggie Johnson, July 27, 1951 in Abilene. Orph was a member of the Graham Street Church of Christ. He worked several years in the oil fields, but spent most of his life as ‘a man of the land', a farmer and rancher. He lived over twenty years in Wilcox, Arizona; moving to Stephenville in 1977. Orph often said ‘he was one hundred years younger than Abraham Lincoln'. Survivors include his wife, Maggie; children, Betty Altum of Abilene, Denise and husband Nick Linton of Wilcox, Arizona, and David and wife Judy Osborne of Abilene; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren Family wish expresses of sympathy be made in the form of donations to American Hospice.
