Odell Phillips

Odell Phillips, 90, of Stephenville passed away Sunday, December 22, 2013, in Fort Worth. Services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2013, at 11:00 AM at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles Jones officiating and Dr. Jerry B. Madkins delivering the eulogy. Burial will follow at Mt. Olive Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home. Odell was born on February 11, 1923, to the late Bee Bentley and Underee Howell in Stephenville. She was retired from the Los Angeles School system and was a home maker. Odell was a member of St. John Baptist Church and taught Sunday school. Odell is survived by her son, Howard L. Phillips Sr. and wife JoAnn of Stephenville, TX; grandchildren, Merce and husband Jonathan Dixon of Pearland, TX, Yolanda and husband Reginald Chandler of Aurora, Ill, Dr. Sarina Phillips of Killeen, TX, and Howard L. Phillips Jr. of Stephenville, TX; great grandchildren, Devin King, D'Ante Phillips, Tamia Phillips, Earnest Swindell III, Bryson Chandler; great-great grandchild, Ja'mier Carey. Odell was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Mallory Carey and a great grandson, A.J. Carey and three sisters and six brothers.
