Norman (Bud) Scott Johnston, Jr. June 30, 1938 - May 19, 2012 Norman (Bud) Scott Johnston, 73 died May 19, 2012 in Granbury, Texas with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held. at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Ben McCleery officiating. The family will welcome friends Monday night, May 21, 2012 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Scott was born in McLean, Texas to Norman Scott Johnston, Sr. and Sarah Harris Johnston on June 30, 1938. He moved to the Stephenville area as a little boy and grew up on the ranch now known as the Pack Ranch. He graduated from Stephenville High School in 1956/57 and attended colleges in Stephenville, Texas and Dallas, Texas. He received specialized training and numerous certificates of excellence for his expertise in automotive mechanics. He served in the United States Army for a brief period and left the military service honorably when his father became ill. Scott's working career spanned 60 years and a variety of professions. He worked in pipe line construction with H.B. Zachry Construction Company, the aviation industry with Brown Aero, Qualitron Aero and Dresser Industries, and automotive mechanics with numerous dealerships in the Dallas/Fort Worth Area. He owned and operated Stephenville Automotive Parts, Inc. from 1976 - 1995. He started his postal career as a relief rural mail carrier in Dublin, Tx , switching to Bluff Dale, Tx in 1991. He became the full-time rural mail carrier for Bluff Dale, Tx in 1998. He retired in 2005. Scott often said he did not know what he wanted to be when he grew up, then finally figured it out - Retired Scott married Betty Bailey in 1964 in Stephenville and they had two beautiful daughters, Amy Johnston Johns and Tammy Johnston Tulk. In 1971 he married Carolyn Nearn Arnold Johnston and instantly became dad to two incredible children - Genie Arnold Thurman and Jeffrey Arnold. During their marriage Scott and Carolyn became the proud parents of two wonderful sons, Wesley Scott Johnston and Robert Joseph Johnston. He could diagnose and fix just about anything - often saying if someone else built it, he could fix it. He was a car enthusiast and an avid NASCAR fan. He loved travel, which ultimately turned into an adventure. Scott loved his God, his family, and his friends. He was an honorable and fair man, treating others as he wished to be treated. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. The world lost a great man and it will never be the same without him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman Scott Johnston and Sarah Harris Johnston and a sister, Donna Conatser. Scott is survived by Carolyn, his wife of 40 years, his children: Genie Thurman of Stephenville, Tx; Tammy Tulk and husband Dana of Wichita, Kansas; Jeffrey Arnold and wife Angela of Oldsmar, Florida; Amy Johns and John McCauley of Granbury, Tx; Wesley Johnston of Euless, Texas; Robert Johnston and fiancée Vanessa Norman of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren: Tiffany Riley, Savannah Thurman, Caitlyn Thurman, Natalie Thurman, Amber Arnold, Blane Arnold, Bryce Arnold, Samantha Daniels, Zack Riley, Hannah Johns, Kaitlyn Hoffman-Johnston, William Johnston, Tazi Johnston, Scott Johnston, Jack Johnston, and Eli Johnston; great-granchildren:McKenzie Daniels, Hendrix Sowell, Katelyn Ivey, Dakota Ivey, Madeline Robinson, Jeffery-Brady Robinson and a sister Edra Cullins of Bangs, Texas. The Johnston family would like to thank Drs. McCombs, Peterson , Schillo and Krone and the awesome ICU nursing staff (Teresa, Kerry, Gail, Lori, Diane, Cathy, Randy) and all other caregivers at Lake Granbury Medical Center for their personal care and attention.
