N. L. Green

Newton Leonard ‘N. L.’ Green, 94, of Stephenville passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023.

Funeral services for N. L. will be at 10:00 Monday, January 9th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel, with Mike Fritscher officiating.  Burial will follow at Duffau Cemetery in Erath County.  Visitation with the Green family will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday at Stephenville Funeral Home.

N. L. was born on October 4, 1928 in Clairette, Texas to the late William Houston and Milbrey Arvyzena Land Green.  He married Janet Joyce Neagle on November 29, 1952 in Hamlin, Texas.  Joyce preceded him in death on March 25, 2003.  N. L. was a member of the Baptist Faith, he farmed, was a mechanic, and was a tractor driver.  He retired after several years working at the Texas A&M Experiment Station.

N. L. is survived by his children, Tresia and husband Carter Combs of Mt View, Wyoming, Leonard and wife Etta Green of DeKalb, Texas, and Nita Green of Stephenville; grandchildren, John and wife Kari Combs, Daniel Combs, Anna and husband Phillip Vissering, Alicia and husband Matt Dettmann, Audrey and husband Beau Ridge, Tephney and husband Shane McMurray, Tresia Smith, Toni Gonzales, Robin Sercu, and Jennifer Ellis; 19 great grandchildren, and 22 great great grandchildren; and his beloved dog, Miss Piggy.

Besides his parents, and wife, Joyce; N. L. is also preceded in death by a son, Billy E. Green; daughter, Mary Lou Jowers; two great grandchildren; two brothers; and 5 sisters.
