Myrtis Henry Griffin Gaines, of Stephenville, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at her home. Graveside Service will be held at 3:00 pm Monday, April 27, 2009 at West End Cemetery in Stephenville. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Sunday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Myrtis was born in Cass County, Texas on June 10, 1916 the middle of 7 children to Samuel and Era Lyles Griffin. She was a fashion model in Beverly Hill in her 20's and 30's, was always among the top sales in the Couture Dept. at Neiman Marcus on Camp Bowie in Ft. Worth for over a decade. She loved her job working with customers and close friends she made. She was also the sports wear manager of The Fair soon to be Monnigs Dept. Store. Myrtis was an avid duplicate bridge player. She sang in the choir at the Methodist church in Mineola and was also the leader of the Garden Club. Myrtis was quite the character known for her comedy and wit. She was caring for all, dependable, exceedingly accomplished and always loved all of her family. She was especially close to her Aunt Ruby Hornesby. Survivors include a daughter, Christina Webb of Stephenville; grandchildren, Sasha Webb, Jacob Webb and wife Tev, Michael Webb and D'Lynn Deicher of Ft. Worth, Angela Webb; great-granddaughter, Chloe Webb; brother,Bobby Griffin and wifeLinda of Cat Springs, Texas; former spouse, J.J.R. (Tommy) Tucker of Canyon Country Ca.; step-daughter, Marion Cole; step-grandchildren, Court Cole and wife Clair, Carol Burney and husband Steve; step-great-grandchildren, Carter and Carlie Cole, and Madison Burney; close friend and nurse, Kay Stone; and family friend, Frank Hare. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Gaines on July of 1988; and by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
