Melvern (Martin) Linch

Melvern Linch June 16, 1924 - May 27, 2016 Melvern Linch, 91, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 in Stephenville, Texas. A graveside service for Melvern will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 8, 2016 in Dawson, Texas. Melvern was born on June 16, 1924 in Caddo Mills, Texas, to the late John Ellis and Zora Wade Martin. She married Charles Linch on March 22, 1969. He preceded her in death in January of 2001. Melvern worked for the Haggar Pants Company in Greenville, Texas, for 30 years. She moved to Stephenville in 2001 after the death of her husband. She attended Hillcrest Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Martin Smith and wife Mary Ann of Bandera, Texas; daughter, Linda Fenner and husband Rodney of Stephenville, Texas; son, Ronnie Smith of El Cajon, California; sister, Bobbie Hawthorne of Greenville, Texas; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband, Melvern was preceded in death by a son, Donnie Smith; grandson, Gary Smith; sister, Mildred Maclin; and a brother, James Martin. The family would like to thank Oakwood Assisted Living and Memory Care for facilitating her extended care.
