Mary Joe Clendenin

Dr. Mary Joe Clendenin, 87, of Stephenville, died Thursday, September 27, 2012 in Minden, Louisiana Services will be held Monday, October 1, 2012 at 4:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery. Visitation will be at 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. Mary Joe was born on December 29, 1924 in Dublin to the late Joseph Edwin and Mary Womack Fitzgerald. She married Ray Clendenin on January 28, 1946 in Stephenville. He preceded her in death November 21, 2003. Mary Joe was Professor Emeritus from Lubbock Christian University, where he taught several years. In 1991 Mary Joe and Ray moved back to Stephenville, and lived here until Ray's death, and soon moved to be with family in Minden, Louisiana. She was a freelance writer, a former member of the 20th Century Club and Retired Teacher Assn., and a member of the Graham Street Church of Christ. She loved quilting, knitting, and cooking. Mary Joe is survived by her son Gerald Clendenin and wife Kathleen of Sibley, LA; daughter, Melissa Ramos and husband Jesse of Floresville, TX; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. Mary Joe was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Frank Clendenin; sisters, Clara Nell Jones and Geraldine Ham; and brother, J. Edwin Fitzgerald.
