Mary "Liz" Brauner

Mary Elizabeth ‘Liz' Brauner, 86, of Stephenville, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at Harris Methodist Erath County Hosp. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, December 22nd at First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Sharon Bryant officiating. Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, December 21st at Stephenville Funeral Home. Burial for Mrs. Brauner will be in St. Louis, Missouri, Tuesday, December 22nd. Liz was born, April 18, 1922, in St. Louis, MO to the late Casey Vernon and Martha Ruth Leach Brown. She married George Brauner, November 22, 1956 in St. Louis County, MO. He preceded her in death. Liz was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, and was a long time member of the Friends of the Stephenville Public Library where she served a number of years as historian. She lived most of her life in St. Louis, MO, several years in Houston and Weimer, and moved to Stephenville in 1991. She was a bookkeeper. Survivors include her sister, Eloise Horak of Stephenville; several nieces and nephews including, Janice Horak of Granbury, Kathy Horak Smith of Washington D. C., Hank Horak of Austin, Mark Horak of Lake Oswego, Oregon, and Karen Christian of Austin; several great nieces and nephews including Austin Christian and T. J. Christian, both of Austin and special friend Melissa Christian of Austin.. Family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Friends of the Stephenville Public Library, building fund.
