Mary Barnett of Amarillo, formerly of Hico, passed away Sunday, August 17, 2008. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday at Duffau Cemetery in Erath County. Family will receive friends 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday evening at Stephenville Funeral Home. Mary Barnett was born in Hico, Texas to Herbert and Myrtle Keller. She grew up in Hico and graduated from Hico High School in 1951. She was the city secretary for the City of Hico. She was also a certified tax assessor for the State of Texas and was a past president of T.A.A.O. She served as tax assessor-collector for the City of Hico, and was city judge there for several years. Mary moved to Amarillo in 1997 and married Dean Barnett on March 10, 1998 in Nashville, TN. She was executive assistant at Canyon Drive Lumber for over eight years and was a member of the Church of Christ at the Colonies. Mary loved to travel and take cruises with Dean, and they enjoyed many memorable trips together. She was dearly loved and will be deeply missed. She was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Jon Scott. Survivors include her husband, Dean; two daughters, Devonna Lee and husband Jerry of Stephenville, and Tanja Lowe of Jacksonville, FL; a son, Brandon Scott and wife Goldie of Stephenville; a foster son, Michael Gravette and wife Kay of Aledo; a step-son, Royce Barnett and wife Debra; and a step-daughter, Christy Barnett all of Amarillo; a brother, Ray Keller of Hico; twelve grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
