Martrue Hutcheson Greenwood, 79, of Bluff Dale, passed away January 12th, at Oakwood Assisted Living in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 14th, 2011 at Bluff Dale United Methodist Church with Rev. Laraine Waughtal officiating. Interment will follow at Glenn Cemetery in Bluff Dale. Visitation: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 13th at the Stephenville Funeral Home. Martrue was born, March 30th, 1931 in Parker County Texas near Springtown to the late Morris and Chloe Dell Hutcheson. She married Bobby Lee Greenwood on May 16th, 1959 in Bluff Dale, Texas. She was preceded in death by both parents, and one son, Andrew Lindsey Greenwood on August 15th, 1960. Martrue was a life long member of the Bluff Dale United Methodist Church where she led the singing with a beautiful soprano voice for several years on Sunday mornings. Prior to retirement she worked for the Department Health and Human Services Department in Stephenville, Texas as a food stamp caseworker. Earlier careers included being a substitute English teacher in Lipan, Texas, and librarian for both Tarleton State University and Baylor University. She was also a genealogist, having authored books on various family tree lineages, as well being a researcher/contributor to local historical projects within Bluff Dale. While the latter years left Martrue incapacitated with Alzheimer's disease, her life prior to that was filled with being a loving sister, mother, wife, grandmother, and friend to many. Martrue loved God, church, family, and the beautiful hills and animals around her Bluff Dale country home. Survivors include her husband Bob Greenwood of Bluff Dale; two daughters, Virginia Kirkpatrick of Cedar Hill, Marcy Derrick and husband Greg of Stephenville; one grandson, Andrew Kirkpatrick, one brother Larry Hutcheson and wife Karon of North Richland Hills, one first cousin "sister" Evelyn Haws of Haltom City; and many beloved nephews and nieces. Additionally and very important, the staff at Oakwood Assisted Living who have taken such tender care of Martrue over the past several years are considered as special extended family.
