Marjorie Y. Wood passed into life after a long battle with Alzheimer's on Sunday, July 17, 2011. Marjorie Yager Wood was born September 15, 1922. She was the second child of three born to Reggie and Elizabeth Yager of Deer Trail, Colorado. Marjorie moved to Bluff Dale, Texas in 1956 with her three children. There she bought a grocery store and living quarters. In 1961 Marjorie sold the store and bought a small acreage out of Granbury, Texas where a new home was built and the children finished their high school education. In 1968 Marjorie decided to sell out in Texas and return to Deer Trail, Colorado. There she was involved in Church, Music Club, Garden Club, ranching and running her own tax preparation business. In 1998 Marjorie moved back to Bluff Dale, Texas with her youngest daughter. There she joined back up with Church and Community Clubs. Marjorie worked the major part of her life. She was born on a ranch in Deer Trail, Colorado and grew up ranching. When she was 10 years old she stayed with and helped her grandparents, John and Jean Jolly, on their ranch which was only a few miles from her family home. The Jolly ranch was a sizable ranch of around 30,000 acres which ran both sheep and cattle. For a brief time during WWII, Marjorie worked in Wasatch, Utah as a telegraph operator for the Union Pacific Railroad. Marjorie is survived by her three children: Her eldest daughter, Joy Tittle and son-in-law, Travis of Granbury, Texas; her son, Rex Cornwell and daughter-in-law, Carolyn of Grand Junction, Colorado; and her youngest daughter, Joan E. Hamm of Bluff Dale, Texas. Her three grandchildren are Bryan Alston and wife, Meredith of Thornton, Colorado; Dyland Cornwell and wife Kelly of O'Fallon, Illinois; and Cathryn Cornwell Williams and her husband David of Cummins, Georgia. She has eight great-grandchildren, Collin, Camden, Rylyn, and Mackenna Cornwell; Emory, Jackson, and Mark Williams; and William Harrison Alston. Marjorie's life and accomplishments' were exemplified by her faith in God, love of family and friends, her wonderful sense of humor and independent spirit that allowed her to make decisions and liver her life freely and fully. As a family, we've been blessed with her presence. She will be greatly missed until we reunite.
