Lanelle Harbin, 82, of Stephenville, died Saturday, December 8, 2007, in a Waco hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday at Stephenville Funeral Home with Reverend Mel Bishara officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Lanelle was born February 27, 1925, in Dublin to the late Ruben D. and Melissa Jones Whitfield. She married Dale Winston Harbin, June 21, 1943, in Stephenville. He preceded her in death July 6, 1961. Lanelle spent over 25 years in the floor covering business as a salesperson, and recently retired from Quality Floors in Stephenville. She was the first female to serve in the capacity of Erath County Judge from 1961 until 1967. She also worked for the City of Stephenville, and the School Tax Office. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, and a life long resident of Erath County Survivors, son and wife, Dale 'Butch' and Janie Harbin of Chapala, Mexico; daughter and husband, Melissa and Gary Jones of Hewitt; grandchildren, Shelly McMillian and husband Tony of Jasper, Emily Jones of Waco, Megan Jones of Waco, and Callen Jones of Hewitt; and great grandson, Zak Dowell of Jasper; brothers, Ruben Whitfield and wife Naomi of Smithville, and Charles Whitfield and wife Charlene of Ft. Stockton; sister Mary Lynn Anderson and husband Bill of Saginaw; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Fosters Home for Children, P. O. Box 978, Stephenville, Texas 76401
