Lynn Garrett

Lynn Marie Garrett, 85, passed away on February 7, 2025, in Stephenville, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at 2:00 P.M., at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel in Stephenville, Texas with Weldon Branham officiating. Interment will follow at Upper Greens Creek Cemetery in Erath County, Texas.

Lynn was born on August 29, 1939, in Houston, Texas, to the late William O’Neal Forrest and Mary Evelyn Goodwin Forrest. She married Monte Garrett on September 11, 1975 in Corpus Christi, Texas. She worked for the Dean of Students at Texas State University in San Marcos, and was a Hospital Administrator in Amarillo for many years. She enjoyed plants and nurseries, she was an exceptional seamstress, and a remarkable chef, making elaborate dishes catering groups both large and small. Lynn was an avid reader, and also very interested in history, especially pertaining to the Civil War and Texas. Because of her high IQ, she was a proud member of MENSA International. She also worked for several years in the cattle business in the Texas panhandle and New Mexico. Because she spent so much time horseback, horses were a big part of her life.

Lynn is survived by her husband, Monte Garrett; her bother-in-law, Warren Garrett; cousin, Lynn McClosky; nephew Charles Barber and wife Lynn; and nieces, Lindsay Allen and husband Wil, and Lesli Sharp and husband Rob. 

Lynn is preceded in death by her parents, Will and Evelyn Forrest.
