Lucille Brashear

Lucille Brashear, 90, long time resident of Dublin, passed away peacefully on Sunday,
January 26, 2025, at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Stephenville, Texas
surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Friday, January 31, 2025, at Valley Grove Baptist
Church in Stephenville. Interment will follow at the West End Cemetery. The family will
receive friends from 5 PM to 7 PM Thursday at the Stephenville Funeral Home.
Lucille Smith was born on March 7, 1934, in Sweetwater to the late Alfred and Della (Gray)
Smith. She married Kenneth Brashear on June 9, 1950, in Sweetwater, and in 1962 they
moved to the Stephenville area to begin the dairy business they owned for 54 years.
Besides working alongside Kenneth, keeping the company books, and raising their three
children, Mike, Brent, and Sherry, Lucille was an accomplished piano player, and played
many years for her church. She was an excellent cook who canned her own vegetables
from their garden and liked nothing more than to prepare a large meal for her family and
friends to enjoy. Her most requested items included her chocolate pies, Italian Cream
Cakes, yeast rolls, and brownies.
Lucille loved to sew and was oftentimes busy constructing costumes and clothes for her
children, bridesmaids’ dresses for friends, and crafts for her home. She loved working
puzzles, gardening and reading.
She is survived by her children, Kenneth Michael Brashear and wife Priscilla of San
Antonio, Daniel Brent Brashear of Dublin, Sherry Brashear Gerber and husband Mark of
Dublin, grandchildren, Robert Brashear and wife Leah of Katy, Sarah Brashear of Falls
Church, VA, Zane and Jack Gerber of Dublin and great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Ryder
Brashear of Katy.
She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her brothers Leslie, Arthur, and Frank
Smith, and her sister Mary Francis Parenica.
