Lotena Ruth (George) Stephens

Lotena Ruth Stephens, 92, of Azle, formerly of Stephenville, died Tuesday, June 11, 2019 in Azle.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, June 14th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Richard Watson officiating. Burial will follow at DeLeon Cemetery in DeLeon. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Ruth was born on August 23, 1926 in DeLeon to the late William Thomas and Allie Mae Dickey George. She graduated from Comyn High High School. Ruth worked several years at the Dublin Sewing Factory, and later retired after several years at Stephenville Hospital. She was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Stephenville. Ruth lived in Gorman many years, before moving to Stephenville in 1975. In 2011, she moved to Azle to live with her daughter.

Ruth is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Sue Dewbre of Azle; son, Wayne and wife Angela Huff of Merkel; grandchildren, Jerry D. Pierce of Azle, Laura Pierce of Ft. Worth, Susan Denise Gregory of Savannah, GA, Lauren Kindall Sellari of Frisco, and John Rouse, Jr. of Rockport; 10 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Opal George of Lubbock; nephew, Jimmy; nieces, Gloria Jean, Mary Mae, Debra, Donna, and Pat.

Besides her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husbands, V. O. Huff and Steve ‘Son' Stephens; and by her brothers, Tim and Travis George.

The Stephens family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to Cook Children's Hospital in Fort Worth.
