Lois Velma Mcalister

Lois Velma Moore McAlister, 98, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2008 in Stephenville. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, July 24, 2008 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with family members officiating. Visitation: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday evening at Stephenville Funeral Home. Burial: West End Cemetery in Stephenville under direction of Stephenville Funeral Home. Lois was born in January 20, 1910 in Erath County to Pinkney Ezekiel and Mary Zetta Moore. She attended Lone Oak and Stephenville schools. After graduating high school she worked for Wolfe Nursery. Lois and Ernest Elmo McAlister were married January 25, 1934 in Stephenville. He preceded her in death on December 7, 1992. They were long time residents of Eastland, Texas where their three children graduated high school. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, gardening, farm animals, sewing, needle work, and cooking. Among her fondest memories was corresponding with her husband during WW II using their secret codes. Survivors include her daughter, Rebecca Joyce and her husband, Kenn Norris of Sanderson; six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a her husband of 58 years E.E. McAlister, Sr.; sons, Ernest Elmo Jr. and John Edward; her sister, Clariece Fuqua; brothers, Nevil and James Moore, and a special friend "Dizzy" Palmer.
