Lloyd Keith Davis

March 12, 1954 – August 21, 2022

Keith was born on the Fort Bliss Army Base at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas to Lloyd Taylor Davis and Shirley Yvonne Allred on March 12, 1954. He was born six weeks early and had to stay in the hospital until he reached five pounds and was able to go home with Taylor and Shirley.

Keith was six months old when Taylor was discharged from the Army and the family moved to the Abilene area where Keith attended elementary school. In 1966 the family bought a house in a new neighborhood in Clyde, Texas called Shalimar Castles. Keith went to junior high and started high school in the Clyde school district.

Keith was the oldest of three children. His brother Kent was born in 1958 and sister Karen born in 1963. The family moved to Gillette, Wyoming when Keith was 15 years old. He graduated from Campbell County High School in 1972. He played in a band in high school and loved fishing and hunting in the mountains and plains of Wyoming.

His Dad described Keith as a thoughtful, easy-going child who was protective of his younger brother and sister.

Keith worked in a uranium mine after high school and his first daughter Aimee Dawn was born in Casper, Wyoming on April 2, 1975. Two weeks later Shirley and Taylor moved the family back to Clyde, Texas where they were would live in the same neighborhood in Shalimar Castles for the next thirty years.

Keith moved to Houston to work for his Grandpa Allred at Jacinto City Radiator Works. His father Taylor described him as a “pure hippie” in these days, but when Keith was about 25 years old he told his Dad he was ready to settle down. With his help, Keith returned to Clyde and went to work in the oil field where he would spend most of his career throughout his life. Keith found quick success and was promoted and moved to Snyder, Texas where his second child, Matthew Scott, was born on September 13, 1977.

Keith met the love of his life, Bonnie Gail Stewart, on July 20, 1979. They married in Midland, Texas on April 8, 1982. With their marriage, Keith gained his third and fourth children, Amy Michelle and Jonathan Kirk Caraway. Keith and Bonnie lived in Midland, Texas where Keith worked for Montello, Inc. Their fifth child, Courtney Dyan, was born on October 1, 1985. Shortly after, Keith and Bonnie moved their family to Clyde, Texas.

Keith has several drilling and production-related patents in his name, and in 1997 he went to work for Forta Corporation, where he would spend the rest of his career.

Keith learned guitar at an early age and was self-taught. He was an exceptional musician who could play any song by ear without knowing how to read music. He spent countless hours playing music with his friends and family, and could even play the guitar with his toes. He sang to his children always, and especially loved to sing Blackbird to his wife and Pure Prairie League’s “Amie” to his daughters.

Keith loved fishing with his dad Taylor and son Matt, often traveling to compete in bass tournaments together. They won a tournament once and Keith used the winning money to buy a porch swing for their family home in Baird.

Keith and Bonnie raised their five children together in Clyde, Baird, and Stephenville Texas. Keith was a family man and made many sacrifices for his wife and children throughout the years. His five children, sixteen grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter are his legacy. Keith and Bonnie celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary with a trip to Las Vegas in April of 2022 with some of their children joining them. Keith loved to travel with his family and has spent time traveling around the United States and in Europe, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and Belize with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Keith and Bonnie relocated to Lake Coleman in 2018 to fish, enjoy the water, and be close to his Dad.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Yvonne Davis. He is survived by his father, Lloyd Taylor Davis, his wife, Bonnie Gail Davis, his brother and sister-in-law, Kent and Jackie Davis, his sister, Karen Beasley, his children Aimee Bissett and husband Clint, Matthew Davis and wife Shanda, Courtney Boles and husband Justin, Amy Linton and husband Jon, and Jonathan Caraway and wife Sarah, along with grandchildren Sarah, Bobby, Taylor, Gracie, Jarrod, Jaden, Hannah, Emma, Case, Harbor, Ember, Ardyn, Revel, Ben, Elizabeth, Jon, great-granddaughter Isabelle, and many nieces and nephews.

He passed peacefully on Sunday, August 21, 2022 in Abilene, Texas surrounded by his family after a brief illness.

Funeral services for Keith will be at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Stephenville Funeral Home.  Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, August 26th at Stephenville Funeral Home.
