Leon Gordon

Leon Gordon October 4, 1928 - December 13, 2016 Leon Gordon, 88, of Stephenville died Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, December 17th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Dick Carroll officiating. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Stephenville Funeral Home. Leon was born on October 4, 1928 in Fisher County, Texas to the late Condy and Olive Swanner Gordon. He married Lillie Mae Davis on November 6, 1948 in Stephenville. Lillie Mae preceded him in death on January 2, 2009. Leon was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 60 years, a member of the Lingleville Masonic Lodge, and the National Cutting Horse Association. He worked many years at Poston Feed Mill and Cooks Lumber Yard, and retired in 1993 after several years at Tarleton State University. Leon and Lillie Mae were one of the most ‘loving couples' one could ever meet. Survivors include his son, Rex Gordon and wife Cindy of Cincinnati, Ohio; their children, Adam Gordon of Orlando and Marisa Gordon of Milwaukee; son-in-law, Tom Lawton of Groves; and his children, Bobby and his wife Celeste Lawton of Houston; their children, Jaxson and Alex; Tom's daughter Laura and husband Ronnie Gee of Houston; and their daughter, Hallie Gee; many beloved nieces and nephews, including Scotty and wife Lenora Bray of Stephenville; and a brother-in-law, Billie Eugene Davis. Besides his parents and wife, Leon was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lorita Lawton on December 7, 2005; brother, Bishop Gordon; sisters Adele Watson Bingham and Gwen Bray; and brothers, Floyd Gordon and Travis Gordon. The Gordon family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the donor's favorite charity.
