Leo Evans

Leo Evans, 91, of Stephenville, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2012 in Mineral Wells. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday January 13, 2012 at the Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with David Harris officiating. Interment will follow at the Hannibal Cemetery in Erath County. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Leo was born on October 9, 1920 in Trent, Texas to the late Joe and Lydia Irene Kent Evans. He married Kathleen Mauldin on August 16, 1941 in Sweetwater and she preceded him in death on November 9, 2010. Leo served in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the American Legion and the Gem and Mineral Club. He has resided in Erath County most of his life and was a member of the Hillcrest Church of Christ. Leo was an avid rock hunter; fisherman and artist, and he loved camping and traveling. Leo was a civil engineer. Survivors include his grandchildren, Jeff Evans of Millsap, Paul Evans of Millsap, Amy Keith of Weatherford, Rhonda Powell Horton of Owassa, OK, Dixie Anderson of Bedford, MA, and Tracy Evans of Minco, OK. He also was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Evans, December 10, 1999.
