Lela Mae Ferguson

Lela Mae Ferguson, 101, passed away on Monday, September 25, 2023.
Funeral services for Lela will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, September 28th at Stephenville Funeral
Home Chapel. Burial will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation with the Ferguson family will
begin at 1:00 PM, one hour prior to services.
Lela Mae was born on November 14, 1921, in Pilot Knob community to the late John Franklin
and Jessie M. Shults Williams. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and was a life
long resident of Stephenville. Lela loved to paint, cook, and travel, but most of all she loved the
family gatherings, especially those during the holidays. She was a homemaker.
Lela Mae is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Penwell; grandchildren, Randy Deaver, Janie and
husband David Lee, Richie and wife Trish Deaver, and Randall and wife Tonia Deaver, great
grandchildren, Natasha and husband Tony Garcia, Tyler Lee, and Nathan Lee.
Besides her parents, Lela Mae was also preceded in death by husband, Johnny Ferguson, March
22, 1991; son-in-law, David Penwell; daughter Lela Louise Henry; great grandson, Taner Deaver;
sisters, Hattie Miller, Nettie Engler, Zella Carter, and Alta Howard; brothers, Barney Williams
and Dexter Williams, and a grand-daughter-in-law, Kim Deaver.
