Learval "Luke" Ray

LeArval ‘Luke' Ray, 82, of Stephenville, went to be with his Lord on Monday, June 16, 2014 in Stephenville. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Wednesday, June 18th at Hillcrest Church of Christ with David Harris officiating. Interment will follow at West End Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday at Stephenville Funeral Home. Luke was born on February 19, 1932 in South Plains to the late Fred Herbert Ray, Sr, and Mary Olive Ray. He married Anna Gibson-Collins on July 11, 1952 in Stephenville. Luke served the Hillcrest Church of Christ as an Elder over 40 years, and served his country in the U. S. Air Force in the 1950's. He worked over 27 years with Safeway Grocery here in Stephenville. Those who are left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, of 62 years, Anna; son, Robert Lynn Ray and wife Jana of Liberty Hill; daughters, Kathy Ray Gruenwald and husband Chuck of Uvalde, Marla Ray Anderson and husband Billy of Palacios, and Tracie Ray Larson and husband Terry of Cat Springs; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Luke was preceded in death, by his parents; brothers, Herbert, Billy Jack, Max, Don, and Robert; by his sisters, Evelyn, Audra, and Annabelle; grandchildren, Jason and Stephanie Anderson. The family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Comanche Community Healthcare Hospice, 1021 Hwy 16 North, Comanche, Texas 76442, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
