Laverta Benningfield

LaVerta Benningfield, 82, of Stephenville, died Tuesday, July 8, 2008 in Stephenville. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 11, at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Mike Hannah officiating. Visitation will be held 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday evening at Stephenville Funeral Home. Under direction of Stephenville Funeral Home. LaVerta was born November 21, 1925, in Comanche County, to the late Fait and Effie Creek Tinney. She married Henry Benningfield, February 15, 1952 in Goldthwaite. He preceded her in death February 14, 1993. LaVerta was born and raised in Comanche County, and had spent the last 20 years in Stephenville. She was a homemaker. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Gaye Benningfield of Tulsa, OK; a daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Kenneth Kelly of Stephenville; grandchildren Traci Kay, Sunny and husband Justin Marler, Tyler and wife Jennifer Kelly, and Shayla Kelly; five sisters, Sue Wooten of Dublin, Marie Johnson of Comanche, Dorothy Howard of San Marcos, Joyce Teague of Port Lavaca, and Neva Dean Boatright of Dublin; several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
